തമിഴും തെലുങ്കും കന്നഡയും ക്ലാസ്സിക്കല് ഭാഷകള് ആണല്ലോ. എന്തേ മലയാളം? മലയാളം ക്ലാസ്സിക്കല് ഭാഷയാണോ?

ത മിഴുമ് കന്നഡവുമ് തെലുങ്കുമ് ക്ലാസ്സികലാണെന്നു തീരുമാനിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞാല്, പിന്നെ മലയാള്ത്തിനു മാത്രം എന്താ കുറവു ? Naturally Malayalam also! But we have to see on what basis the other languages are to be claimed as 'classical' !

Malayalam is not a classical language but a modern language, the youngest of all world languages. Those who seek a classical status, either do not understand the meaning of Classical or they are having a hidden agenda. This staus will entail Malayalam to secure a grand grant of a few crores so that some retired Malayalam professors who also indulge in writing poems or essays can aspire to become a director or at least a member of some linguistic set up drawing handsome salary or allowances and simultaneously distribute petty privileges to others.
We have seen this circus earlier also. We should be proud of our language's modern status and its well defined alphabet that enable almost every other languages to be written down in our script. At least those preach for the classical status should know the history of its evolution. Many of them do not even know how many characters are there in the Malayalam alphabet. Let us first make all Malayalees speak the language with perfection, correct diction, appropriate word etc reflecting the best culture of Kerala.
Let there first be a uniformity in speech throughout Kerala. Then we will start talking about this status.

ഭരണത്തില് ആസനം ഉറപ്പിക്കാന് മംമൂസ് ചെയ്തു കൊടുത്തതാ അതൊകെ കൂടെ നൂറു കോടിയും ,
ഡി എം കെ തമിഴ് ഭാഷയെ ഉയര്ത്തി ഒരു പൊതു യോഗം നടത്തി ബൂലോക സംഭവം ആക്കിയ കാര്യം ഓര്ക്കുന്നുണ്ടോ അതും സക്കാരിന്റെ പ്രതിച്ഛായ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള മഹാ തന്ത്രവും തത്രപാടും ആയിരുന്നു ....

അന്ന് അവര് ക്ലാസിക് പദവിയ്ക്ക് മാനദണ്ഡം വെറും നാല്പതു വര്ഷം ആയിരുന്നു .
പിന്നെ തമിഴ് നാടും കര്ണ്ണാടകവും ഓക്കേ ചേര്ന്നല്ലേ അതിനെ ആയിരം വര്ഷത്തെ പഴക്കം വേണം അന്ന് മാറ്റിയത് ഒരിക്കലും വേറെ ഒരു ഭാഷയ്ക്കും ക്ലാസ്സ്ക് പദവി കിട്ടരുത് എന്നാ ഉദ്ദേശത്തോടെ ....
അത് തന്നെ മലയാളം ഇപ്പോഴും തഴയാന് കാരണം

ക്ലാസ്സിക് പദവിയ്ക്ക് ഒരു യോഗ്യതയും ഇല്ലാ എന്നാ എം ജി എസ് നാരായണനെ പോലുള്ള ചരിത്രകാരണന്മാരുടെ പക്ഷം , മലയാളം പുരാതര ഭാഷയായിരുന്ന തമിഴ് , സംകൃത ഭാഷകളില് നിന്നും ഉരുത്തിരിഞ്ഞ താണെന്നും അറബിക് , പോര്ച്ചുഗീസ് , സംകൃതം , തമിഴ് പോലുള്ള ഭാഷകളില് നിന്നും കടംകൊണ്ട പദങ്ങളാല് സമ്പന്നം ആണെന്നും ആയതിനാല് അതിപുരാതനം അല്ലാ എന്നും ..
കേരളത്തില് കണ്ടെത്തിയ കാലപഴക്കം ചെന്ന ലിഖിതമായാ വാഴപള്ളി ശാസനയില് പോലും മലയാളം എന്ന് പറയാന് കഴിയുന്ന ലിഖിതങ്ങള് കുറവാണെന്നും.....
പിന്നെ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ നൂറു കോടി തട്ടി എടുക്കാനുള്ള തന്ത്രമായിട്ടാണ് കേരളാ സര്ക്കാരുകള് ഇതിനു പുറപ്പെട്ടതെന്നും ആണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വാദം .....
എന്നാല് .......
അതി പുരാതരമായ ഗുഹാലിഖിതങ്ങളില് പോലും മലയാളം ലിപി കണ്ടെത്തിയെന്നും മലയാളത്തിന് തമിഴ് ഭാഷയോടൊപ്പം പഴക്കം ഉണ്ടെന്നും പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.
സത്യം ഇതാ എന്നാ കാര്യം വ്യക്തം ആയി എനിക്കും അറിയില്ല
ആദ്യം തള്ളിയെങ്കിലും കേരളം വീണ്ടും പുതിയ ഒരു സപ്ളിമെന്ററി റിപ്പോര്ട്ട് നല്ക്കിയിരിക്കുകയാണ് ...
കഴിഞ്ഞ തവണ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി കേന്ദ്രത്തില് ചെന്നപ്പോള് പുരാവസ്തു മന്ത്രി ( അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വകുപ്പാണെ ) വിദേശത്തായതിനാല് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയെ എപ്പിചിരിക്കുവാ .... അത് വെളിച്ചം കാണും എന്ന് പുണ്യവാളനു പ്രതീക്ഷ ഇല്ല

ഭാഷയുടെ ക്ലാസിക് പദവി എന്നത് വിലയേറിയ ഒരംഗീകാരമല്ല. ഭാഷയുടെ ഉന്നമനത്തിനായി കേന്ദ്ര സര്ക്കാരിലൂടെ ഗ്രാന്റായും മറ്റും വലിയൊരു തുക ഈ അംഗീകാരത്തിനു പിറകേ വരും എന്നതു മാത്രമാണ് ഭാഷയുടെ പഴക്കം അന്വേഷിച്ച് പോകുവാന് സര്ക്കാരിനെ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഇപ്പോള് അതിനുള്ള സാധ്യതയില്ല എന്നാണ് പറയുന്നത്. ഇനി അഥവാ മലയാളത്തിനു ക്ലാസ്സിക പദവി കിട്ടിയെന്നു തന്നെയിരിക്കട്ടെ. അതു കൊണ്ട് സര്ക്കാര് മലയാള ഭാഷക്ക് എന്തു പുരോഗതിയാണ് ഉണ്ടാക്കുവാന് പോകുന്നത്. ഭാഷയോട് ഇത്ര സ്നേഹമുള്ള ഒരു സര്ക്കാര് ഈ ചാനലുകളിലൂടെ ഭാഷയെ ചവച്ചു തുപ്പുന്നത് നിറുത്തിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ് ആദ്യം ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്.

The age of a language can be gauged from its alphabet (to claim a full fledged language, it needs an alphabet lest it remains an oral language like Konkani or Bhojpuri). Malayalam has heavily borrowed from Tamil and one character from Telugu also and this proves their languages are older than ours.But both those languages have not borrowed from Malayalam.
We should be concerned with our languages and not with other languages. How they got the classical stautus, their intellectuals should think of. Let us not civilise others before do ourselves. I am proud to say that my language is most modern and more amenable and inclusive. If some one made money by stealing, should we follow their modus operandi? I would rather be satisfied with what I have and try to improve in an honest manner and have no hesitation in rejecting or refusing anything that comes immorally.
I am proud that may language can take down literally some tough European languages like Russian and German but can the Tamil, Telugu or Kannada enthusists claim that privilege? When everyone tries to move forward why we should move backward? Just for some silver?
I respect my language for its modern outlook and will not sell it even if crores are offered. What do Oommen Chandy and his ilk know about our language? What are their credentials as far as Malayalam language is concerned? They are playing to the gallery that accommodate a few who are looking for an opportunity to grab some more money during their twilight of life. Please do not fall prey to their mechanisations.
I will not support any charity movement that would make me lazy and good for nothing. I would rather strive hard and try to stand on my feet. Let us stop these freebies and reject them with the contempt it deserves.

I agree with Satyanath. Malayalam is one of the few languages in the world which can represent almost all the sounds produced by a human being distinctively, which is not possible in the so called primitive languages. This could also be the reason why malayalees migrating to other parts of the world are easily able to learn adapt other languages . Most of the classical languages in the world are either dead languages or have diversified and evolved to altogether different form as it is currently used.ie., the spoken varieties of the language has diverged further and further away from the classical written language over centuries. So we should be proud that we have amodern language which has been adapting words and rules from other languages to enrich itself.
