Swathi thirunal Urmila Raja born at Thiruvalla Nedumbrath palace on June 14. Father-Kottakkal kovilakathu K.C Anujan Raja and Mother-Nedumbrath palace Manorama Thampuratti. The one and only sister Uma prabha varma.
I Completed education from Infant Jesus Convent Thrissur & Sree Keralavarma College Thrissur. Learned VEENA for 7 years under Thrissur Venkidachala Bhagavathar. Learned Bharathanatyam for 5 years from Thrissur Natana Nikethanam and Mohiniyattam from Thrissur Janardhanan master. Conducted more than 500 programs in India and abroad. Because of the affection with dance with an intention to teach the students what I learned from my teachers started a Dance academy named as Mudra at thrissur and for 10 years I was running that. The great pleasure which I got from this academy is that even today hundreds of my students are there as shining stars in the dance field. Published CD’s Cassettes of Cholkett, Padamanjari, Varnothsavam(Mohiniyattam), Nadodinritham, Bharathanatyam varnothsavam, Aathirathinkal(Thiruvathirakkali). In a Context conducted by a private firm I was selected as the Miss Thrissur and that was a turning point in my life. Further I had been served as a Malayalam Teacher for 5 years at Surakshitha School, Thrissur.
Married Palakad Ankarath Ramanunni on 17-01-1981. My daughter Uthara also there in the film industry and her film will be released soon. As I mentioned earlier I have only one sister and Samyukthavarma, the film actress is her daughter. Her Husband Biju Menon and their Son- DhakshDharmik is very close to us and we are living like one family. “Marattom” was the first film as an actress directed by Aravindan in 1988 and it was included in 5 international film festivals. Critics such as Deric malcom, Chithananda das Gupta were appreciated the acting. They were commenting that my foot step into the film industry is an invention by Aravindan for the film industry and the medias commented as the beauty queen of Malayalam film industry . In 1994 published the poetry named “PANCHALIKA” and in 1995 a book named “Cinimayude Katha Cinimakatha” ( the story of cinema cinema story) which is describing about the technical aspects of cinema for the students. Now it is a reference text at M.G. University. In 2001 translated “The Book of Ganesha” written by Royinagreval to Malayalam and named as “Ganapathy” published by DC Books. My life experiences published in 2006 as “Oru chimizhu manassu”. A picture exhibition named “Ganapathy” conducted at Eranakulam woodlands hall in 1997 with more than 50 pictures drawn in different medium.
Sargam released in 1992 April was the film made me popular in the film industry. Acted in a lot of Tele-films and Serials and mostly worked with the director Shajiyem. (Nizhalukal). Nizhalattom, Mughamariyathrey Kathayariyathey, DeviMahathmyam, Darussalam, Amruthavarshini, Neettivecha Madhuvidhu, Melottu Kozhiyunna Ilakal etc…are the major serials. I learned “Kathakali” from my Guru Sri.Balasubhramanyam and the debut was at Guruvayoor. I introduced “Mural” painting for the first time in Sarees and in the dress materials. I conducted Exhibition and sales at Eranakulam, Dubai and Bangalore for the same. I may be the one and only Malayalam actress who inaugurated more than 2000 functions and ventures. Presently acting in various films and seials and in a lot of advertisements. As Robert Frost said;
